Learn more about our group below.
Michael Alecci – Trench Safety Engineering Intern
Michael is a student at University of Maryland studying Civil Engineering and he is our first engineering intern! He is a sharp individual and a fast learner. When the idea of an engineering intern was first brought up, I thought having one would only be laying the groundwork for future employment, I do not expect them to be able to jump in and assist with production. But, because of Michael’s eagerness, he has been able to absorb a lot of information in a very short amount of time and has actually been able to jump in and help support the workload by producing engineering designs for real projects just like the everyday, permanent folks. And with summer being our busiest time of the year, he has been a big help to our department!
Kim An Tran — Sales Intern
Kim is currently an intern at our College Station, TX location and attends Texas A&M University. She has the ability to bring a smile to everyone during the fast pace and often hectic days. Throughout her internship she has had several medallia surveys with all 10s! She participates in leading our 1UR meetings and has been able to turn several quotes into rentals with follow up calls. She is a quick learner and in just a few short weeks her Rentalman knowledge is impressive. She has become a part of the team and she takes it upon herself to ensure the fuel island always has water and ice in the cooler every day for employees.
Austin Barron – Sales Intern
Austin is an intern in Houston, TX and is going into his senior year at Texas A&M University. Austin has done an excellent job this summer diving into the rental business and helping to drive revenue for the company. He routinely helps customers that walk in the store, answers phone calls, and handles emails on a constant basis. He has been able to get out in the truck with techs and sales reps and has taken the lead role in the outbound call campaign since it has been rolled out. He would like to come work for United Rentals in the Sports and Entertainment division after he graduates from Texas A&M and United Rentals would benefit greatly from having him on board. We look forward to seeing Austin join the UR Team in the future and watch his career advance with us!
Sam Beach – Sales Intern
Sam is an economics and communications student at Hanover College. He is spending his summer interning with our Trench Safety Team in Louisville, KY. Sam has played a key role in our branch from day one. Sam came into to the branch with a big smile, great attitude and was ready to learn! Following the summer schedule Sam spent his time in the yard, with our drivers, and on the counter with Inside Sales Reps. He is now ready to work with our Outside Sales Reps. With every task he tackles it is with a positive fun attitude but always with safety in mind. Sam has learned many of the basic functions in Rentalman and is a big help. During our Trench Safety Stand Down event Sam jumped in with two feet first, coming up with ideas, making calls to coordinate the event and greeting customers. Sam is a true young professional that carries himself the UR way.
Cheyenne Bell — Recruiting Intern
Cheyenne came to the recruiting team as an intern via University of Baltimore as a Human Resources major. Cheyenne has been extremely eager to learn and gain knowledge, not just in her field of study, but wanting to understand our industry and culture. She is always willing to take on anything we give to her and ask for more to give her exposure. She has been an asset to our team and we enjoy having her here!
Jimmy Do — Sales Intern
Jimmy is a current LSU student who is completing a sales internship at our Beaumont, TX branch. He has been a fantastic sales intern. Jimmy is not afraid to jump right in to learn about United Rentals. He is always willing to do anything we ask of him. He has been instrumental in calling customers to verify rents with our customers. Jimmy has been eager to learn new things and step out of his comfort zone. He will be greatly missed when he returns to school. He is a true team player and we have truly enjoyed having him on our team.
Martin Duane — Sales Intern
Martin is a rising senior at The Citadel majoring in Business Administration and is interning at our Charleston, SC location. Martin’s manager says having Martin join our team this summer has been a real pleasure. Martin comes to work every day with a smile and is eager to work. He has worked in every department and has excelled in every task he has been given. We have received numerous compliments from his co-workers as well as our customers. Martin demonstrates many of the qualities that we are looking for in a United Rentals teammate to make sure our customers have the best possible experience. We recently had a reservation for a skid steer breaker for 9am and we did not have one on our yard. Martin not only checked all the equipment on our yard but came to me, volunteered and went to another store to pick one up so it would be ready when our customer arrived. What a 1UR attitude! He is always asking not only our customers but his teammates if he can help them with something. This young man is motivated and has a bright future ahead of him in whatever he chooses to do. Branch 472’s vote for Intern of the year for 2019 is Martin Duane!
Danielle Evans — Sales Intern
Danielle is a current student at Texas Lutheran University and is interning at one of our Industrial branches in Conroe, TX. Since day one she has had the eagerness to be involved and learn. While she began with little to no knowledge on equipment, she can now name most of the equipment in the yard. She has been very dedicated to completing scavenger hunt and connecting with other branches/employees. Danielle is a fast learner, is not afraid to tackle tasks and has great customer service. Thank you Danielle!
Samantha Greenwald — Sales Intern
Samantha is a student at University of New Mexico majoring in psychology and is currently an intern at our Durango, CO branch. She has been motivated since day one! In the 10 months she has been part of the United Rentals team Samantha took to the intern workbook and ran with it, completing trainings, and exceeding expectations! She has built deep relationships within the Durango customer base, and supports outside sales by making outbound calls daily.
Johnnie Herring – Tech Intern
Johnnie Herring attends Wake Community College where he is being trained in Heavy Equipment Maintenance. He will graduate in 2020 and has been such an asset that we are keeping him on part time with plans to bring him on permanently upon graduation. Over this summer, we have worked hard to expose Johnnie to as much of the rental business as possible. He has been able to build strong working relationship with the team and customers. The service tech team has embraced the opportunity to coach and mentor him and he has absorbed the knowledge like a sponge! Johnnie has spent time serving as EA and Triage tech. He has also completed some hard down repairs with the oversight of our Shop Foreman. He always maintains to have a great attitude no matter what task has been assigned. We have had multiple customers come back into the store after picking up equipment just to tell us how impressed they were with Johnnie’s customer service. I look forward to watching Johnnie grow as a technician and as a United Rental employee. He has a long runway.
Kirsten Hubbard – Sales Intern
Kirsten Hubbard is a senior at Pittsburg State University with a major in business (marketing). She decided to step out of her comfort zone and start her internship here at United Rentals. She has been a delight to all of us here in Olathe, KS. She brightens the day of everyone who interacts with her, and always radiates positivity when she walks through the door in the morning. Even though she is not from this industry, her curiosity for our processes and procedures shows otherwise. With a sharp eye for organization and order, she has made an impact in the overall flow of our showroom, and continues to give us ideas on how to improve. She’s jumped in and helped with numerous projects and is always willing to go on a ride along to job sites. We love her sense of adventure and enthusiasm for living life to the fullest. It is something we can all learn from and encourages others to live with purpose every day.

Brock Riddle — Sales Intern
Brock is a current student at Texas Lutheran University majoring in finance. He is intern with our Power & HVAC location in Arlington, TX and has made tremendous contributions during his internship with United Rentals. Besides his learning of our business operations, we had a large job come up at the Dallas crane collapse site that had a very tight load in schedule, it took all the resources we had. Brock volunteered to pitch in to help with the job site set up and I heard many compliments from my staff on how much he helped.
Logan Thompson — Sales Intern
Logan Thompson is a Jr. at Lamar University majoring in Finance. He is interning with our Fluid Solutions team in Beaumont, TX. Since coming onboard Logan has done a great job learning the business from the ground floor. In doing so, he’s displayed his willingness to do whatever’s asked of him as part of the team in the yard and while representing us in the field assisting drivers on pick-ups. He’s provided us with many comedic moments that help keep the team laughing throughout the day and is never afraid to accept a challenge. Last week he took a huge step in his career and assisted at the counter during the week prior to the potential landfall of Hurricane Barry. Logan was a tremendous help sourcing, scheduling, and fielding the tremendous increase in calls during this time. Logan, we thank you again for considering United Rentals for your Internship and appreciate all that you have done for the I30 Team during your time with us.

He has performed Inside Sales Rep tasks and learned Rentalman to a point of making reservations and creating pick up tickets, full returns, and merchandise sales along with researching open contracts for cycle billing questions. He is not scared of hard work or getting dirty as this business sometimes calls for. Martin embraced 5s and has helped our EA revise and organize the yard. Martin has been enthusiastic on learning the art of selling and has done well trying to lock down rentals and sales while on the counter. We look forward to Martins growth for the remainder of the summer and excited to see how he handles the outside sales ride a longs to come. So far he has been an asset to our branch and we hope to continue Martin's growth within the company.
