Convincing your Boss to Hire an Excavator and Not Buy One

When it comes to the job site, you want to make sure you’ve got the best gear to get your work done. While there are definite benefits to owning your own earthmoving machinery, there’s no denying that it’s an incredibly expensive exercise. With this in mind, sometimes hiring an excavator is an ideal alternative.

So, if your boss is tossing up whether to bite the bullet and buy a new excavator or just hire one for the task at hand, here’s how you can convince them to stick with a rental instead.

Pros of hiring an excavator

Buying a new excavator is a huge investment. Even a second-hand model can set you back tens of thousands based on the specs. If you’ve got lots of different jobs on the go, often renting machinery can work out just as well, if not better than buying your own plant.

Still don’t believe us? Here are 6 reasons why your boss should hire an excavator instead of buying one.

Access to the latest equipment

One of the main benefits of hiring an excavator is that you’ll always have access to the latest models and attachments. That way you can rest easy knowing that you’ve got the safest, latest, most reliable equipment available. Plus, the latest models are often equipped with the most advanced technology, helping you to get the job done quicker and more efficiently.

Find the right gear for the job

When it comes to excavators, different-sized machines are usually better suited to different jobs. Hiring an excavator provides you with the flexibility to choose the right-sized excavator and the perfect attachment for your job. Switch between different sizes, models and attachments to suit the needs of your individual projects.

Value for money

Buying an excavator is expensive. Not to mention the constant maintenance costs that come along with owning an excavator. Instead, when you hire an excavator the repairs, maintenance and servicing costs are taken care of for you. And there’s no need to worry about insurance or finding an appropriate storage site to keep your excavator safe while it’s not in use.

Convenience of having it organised for you

Another bonus of renting an excavator is the convenience factor. Choose from a wide range of equipment and attachments to get the job done right. Plus, most excavator hire companies will deliver the gear straight to your home or job site and pick it up once you’re done with it. That way, you don’t have to worry about transporting heavy machinery to and from the project.

All the maintenance is taken care of

Excavator hire companies work closely with qualified mechanics to service and maintain the equipment so it’s in top condition and meets safety standards. This can help to protect the safety of you and your employees while you’re on the job.

There’s nothing worse than an excavator breaking down midway through a job. But when you hire a machine through a rental company, it’s up to them to provide you with an excavator that’s in excellent working order. If there are any issues, they’ll usually have a replacement machine for you quickly, rather than having to deal with the downtime and delays that come with repairing your own equipment.

Take advantage of expert advice

Last but not least, excavator hire companies usually have a dedicated service team that is on hand to offer expert advice. They often specialise in working with construction industry professionals and are well-versed in providing flexible equipment solutions. They’ll help you to track down the best gear for your job, so you can avoid making costly mistakes.
